NEET 2027 CBT: what is confirmed, what is not, and how to prepare
Current official status: not confirmed
NTA has not published a NEET-UG 2027 bulletin or notice confirming a computer-based test. The latest official NEET-UG 2026 bulletin specifies a single-day, single-shift pen-and-paper examination using OMR. A general CBT tender or news report is not an exam-mode announcement.
The useful question is not “Which rumour should I trust?” It is “How can I stay ready without sacrificing the format NTA has actually announced?” The answer is dual preparation: continue OMR simulation while building screen fluency as a transferable exam skill.
What remains official from the latest bulletin
- Physics, Chemistry and Biology remain the tested subjects.
- The paper uses 180 questions for 720 marks.
- Correct answers score +4, incorrect answers −1 and unattempted questions 0.
- The 2026 delivery mode is pen-and-paper/OMR.
- The 2027 mode can only be treated as final when NTA publishes its bulletin or notice.

A no-regret preparation plan
- 1. Keep OMR competence current.
Take at least one full paper-format mock regularly until NTA announces otherwise. Bubble accuracy and page-based pacing still matter for the official mode.
- 2. Add short screen-reading blocks.
Solve 20–40 questions on screen several times per week. This builds stamina without replacing content study.
- 3. Learn a question-palette workflow.
Use answered, marked and unseen states consistently. The goal is interface boredom—not novelty—if CBT arrives.
- 4. Track error causes, not only score.
Separate concept gaps from careless slips, rushed decisions and guesses. Format changes do not repair recurring reasoning errors.
- 5. Re-check the official bulletin before changing strategy.
When NTA publishes the 2027 bulletin, update the mock split immediately. Until then, prepare for both without claiming certainty.
