Brief (to candidate)

A 30-year-old man arrives 35 minutes after an RTC. BP 78/50, pulse 128, confused, seatbelt bruise, positive eFAST. Demonstrate your primary survey and state immediate management.

Candidate instructions

  1. Verbalise C-spine + ABCDE with simultaneous actions.
  2. Call for help/blood; large-bore access; TXA 1 g then 1 g / 8 h if within 3 h.
  3. Interpret positive eFAST + instability → theatre, not CT.
  4. Prevent hypothermia; consider pelvic binder if mechanism/pelvis concerning.
  5. Structured handover (ATMIST).
